It's New Year's Day, January 1, 2011. We're preparing to go to Maputo, Mozambique, Africa on Monday the 3rd. This time it'll be Dr. Kerry Cheever and myself as partners in the exchange visit with our ANEMO colleagues. An important aspect of this trip will be to participate in the Mozambique Nurses Leadership Institue, along with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) representatives. The AONE leadership has offered the institute previously in Eastern Europe/Russia, as well as throughtout the U.S. The has been an established curriculum by AONE, and this is the 2nd in a yearlong program on leadership development.
We will also meet with the new Board of Directors and Officers, elected last spring when Dr. Maria Schantz and I attended the General Assembly Meeting and Elections. We hope to work with the partners in establishing goals for the ANEMO partners visit to the U.S., anticipated for Spring 2011.
I'm all packed and ready to go...just a few pieces of laundry left to do and add to my suitcase. We leave at 6:20 a.m. on Monday on a Delta Connection to Altlanta, Atlanta to Johannesburg, and Joburg to Maputo. We'll arrive there on the 5th of January.
